d. Cub leader Round Tables are scheduled for: Tuesday, Sept. 11 and Oct. 9.
II. Boy Scout Training:
a. Den Chief Training [repeat from last month]: Greg Hauser will conduct den chief training in the fall. He will follow the schedule set up by Rob Postar, of a two day program a week apart. Tentative plans are for the program to be the last two Wed. of Sept. or the first week of Oct.
b. Scoutmaster Training: Piedmonts Scoutmaster Training, Part I, is Sept. 21, and the Introduction to Outdoor Skills for Adult Leaders is October 25-26 (Sat.-Sun.) at Lookout Ridge, Chabot Regional Park. Peralta District of SFBAC will join with Piedmont in conducting the program. Pete Carpenter of Peralta will be co-leader of the program.
c. Junior Leader Training [repeat from last month]: Malcolm Talcott will conduct a junior leader training program, similar to the old one-day JLT, in the fall. A poll of scoutmasters found that troops have planned camping trips each Saturday in September, so no date is better than any other, so we will conduct the training on the original date, Sept. 13. Malcolm may also contact Darrly Bayuk (510-886-0855, trbay@att.net.) who has led a similar program with SFBAC.
d. Venture Training [repeat from June]: Jason advised that we need to provide Venture Leader training for venture crew leaders and advisors. The new vice president of venturing is Bill Molmen; Ken Li will be the commissioner. The Venture program will have their roundtable on the second Monday of the month; the next meeting will be Monday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m..
e. Jason also provided a summary of the board retreat action items on training after the meeting. Highlights:
i. We need to conduct an evaluation of council training programs to identify needs and also how the programs meet those needs. JG to provide a one-page evaluation form.
ii. Primary target groups for training are: new den leaders, pack committee members, troop committee members.
iii. The Council needs to rely more on our website to provide training, reminders for training and what other training is needed.
iv. The Council needs to disseminate more widely the training opportunities offered by other councils.
f. Troop Committee Training [repeat from last month]: Mary Carpenter, Troop 11, advised that they would like us to provide troop committee training. We will work with them to find a suitable date, most likely in late September or early October.
