Lodge Dinner 2007.....

2007 Lodge Fall Banquet

On Sunday, November 11, Hungteetsepoppi Lodge held its annual banquet. Several new members, recently inducted by their Ordeal, joined the familiar faces around the table. After the attendees got their delicious dinner of ribs, chicken, corn muffins, and pie, the main segment of the meeting began.
First off was the calling out of dedicated OA member Jacob A. for the prestigious honor of Vigil. Jacob accepted this with honor as the crowd raucously applauded. Also given were two Founder’s Awards, to Jim Faison and Kevin Clark, for their continued service efforts beyond what is required of them in the OA.

After a promotional video for the camping and service opportunities of Arrowcorp 5, guest speaker Peter Harvey delivered a presentation on the work he has done for NASA. He first showed videos of the complicated process of launching a spacecraft. It was fascinating to see what goes on behind the scenes when preparing a small, highly technical machine for the harsh conditions of the upper atmosphere and outer space. Mr. Harvey followed this with some rather unsettling information. He told the stunned crowd that the earthquake that led to the tragic tsunamis in Asia in 2004 may have been caused by a sudden cosmic energy burst that completely destroyed countless planets, and caused a gravitational disturbance on Earth. With this humbling example he stressed the importance of “eating dessert first.”

Derek D.

Lodge member and distingushed NASA Project Manager Peter Harvey, gives a fantastic presentation on the satellite systems that he has been responsible for, and what they have learned from them.

Lodge 2007 Vigil Candidate, Jacob A., is presented his triangle by Paul O. and Kevin C.

Lodge officers for 2007, Jim, John, Will and derek at the dinner.
